You guys,
Having kids means planning to have your plans ruined.
Sometimes at night I make a plan for the next day. A to-do list. I look at all my pockets of free time and think, I’m going to get so much done tomorrow. I’m going to crush life tomorrow.
And then your kid tests positive for COVID after you thought he already had COVID and you're stuck without childcare for five days. In addition to a 3-month-old.
When that happens, everything else melts away. Things that felt important — the newsletter, the podcast, writing, giving my friends’ feedback — they no longer matter quite as much.
Now there’s a new plan. Sam and I huddle up to prepare. “Okay, let’s talk about tomorrow.”
We walk through the day. We take into consideration Sam’s work calls, Layla’s feeding schedule, and George’s meal times. Should we go to the park? Should we do a craft or something? That can’t be too hard. We just need like, construction paper and markers.
Sam reminds me that we don’t have construction paper. Or markers.
I order both on Amazon. I can do this parent thing.
A Thread
I like to write about things that fire me up.
Someone saying, “There’s no prize at the end of a natural childbirth,” is one of those things.
Here’s the full essay: The Natural Childbirth Prize

Episode 9 is out!
Sam and I attempt to kick our sweet tooth to the curb by eliminating desserts. For a week. We should probably do something about our alcohol consumption, too.
But not today.
Listen to the episode on Spotify, Google Podcasts, or Apple Podcasts.
What’s Worse?
You walk into your toddler’s room in the morning and see him face down in throw up. Then you realize it’s all over his crib mattress. Then you realize it’s not throw up.
It’s diarrhea.
Everywhere.
George was backed up for two days. And then it all came out, thanks to an upset stomach. If you’re wondering just how much a 20-month-old can poop, let me tell you, it’s a lot.
