You guys,
What do you get when you have a sick toddler, a sick baby, and sick parents?
…
A rough week!
…Get it? No? Is it not funny? It’s not funny. I’m delirious.
It all came to a head Thursday. Sam said it may have been the worst day of his life.
It started with George in the morning. A 10-minute red-faced screaming-till-silent tantrum and his body stiff as a board while Sam tried to change his poopy diaper that had exploded everywhere. Later that night, another episode when we tried to put a dropper of Tylenol in his mouth because he came home from daycare with a fever. You would’ve thought we were waterboarding him.
After we finally got him to bed at 6:30pm, Layla turned into a baby I’ve never seen before. She was basically screaming her head off from 7pm until midnight.
Apparently, this is something called the witching hour. Apparently, it peaks around 2 months old. And apparently, it’s common.
Great.
Parenting just keeps getting harder.
ThreadX
Last week I turned an old essay into a Twitter thread!
The exclamation point is because I’ve never done this before. But as I transition away from writing weekly essays, I want to focus on distribution and repurposing old content.
I was inspired by fellow Write of Passage mentor Louie Bacaj.
Louie’s been crushing Twitter and developed this really cool app to help you write Tweet threads. I attended one of his mentor sessions and learned three valuable tips to consider for the first tweet of your thread:
Hook the reader
Let them know what they’re about to get
Establish credibility
Sounds intuitive, but I never thought to establish credibility before.
Thanks to Louie’s app that allows you to get feedback on your thread before you publish it (shoutout to Louie and Matthew Vilwock!), I was able to add the bit about being 32 years old when I met my husband.
So much better, right??
Bleecker Bombs
Episode 5 is out!
I talk about my need to be like and Sam confesses a shameful parenting moment. On a lighter note, we bought suitcases and I’m way too excited about them. Finally, is timing really everything??
Listen to the episode on Spotify, overcast.fm, Google Podcasts, or Apple Podcasts.
