Hello everyone,
My mom and sister arrived on Saturday to meet Baby George.
Sam and I have been extra cautious about Covid and asked them both to take every precaution necessary before making the trip. I was holding George when Mom walked in and as she walked towards me I back peddled away from her and almost knocked over our end table.
“Mom… wash your hands.”
I was flabbergasted that I had to ask her to wash her hands after an 8-hour drive. Then she was holding George when my sister started walking onto our area rug with her shoes still on. I said to both of them, “Can you guys take off your shoes?”
Jess rolled her eyes at me and kicked them off. Mom did that thing where she was talking to me but looking at the baby and saying it in a sweet voice as if she was actually talking to him: “Let us get settled first. Don’t rush us.” George started to cry and my mom proceeded to walk all over our downstairs - even in our bedroom - with her shoes on.
My armpits were sweating. I kept exchanging looks with Sam, telling him with my eyes, “I asked her already. What am I supposed to do??”
It was only the beginning and I was already very stressed out.
I’m so grateful to have their help. But family is also the worst.
Blog of the Week
Super big thank you to everyone who responded last week with questions and topics for the mail bag idea! It was great to hear from so many of you, even if just to say hi and give me some encouragement with my new role as a parent. I appreciate you guys. :)
As promised, this week’s post is dedicated to you. I changed up the format and did it more like an advice column. Hope you enjoy.
Hate to Brag…
As a thank you to our incredible neighbors for all their help in the first month with George, Sam and I got them a bottle of wine and I baked my specialty: chocolate chip cookies.
I don’t brag much, but I make a mean batch of cookies. I’m also really good at wrapping presents.
Both have two things in common:
I enjoy the act and process
I spent many hours working on them, messing up, getting better, and finally mastering them.
What are the things you’re really good at? And what do they have in common?

Until next week,
Charlie
