Hello everyone,
Sam and I have officially moved into our new house (and made it through our first hurricane, power outage, and fallen tree in the backyard - sorry for the delay)!
Already there are things that stand out as amazing features. One is in the bathroom connected to our bedroom: His and Her sinks. Seems like such a minor thing, but I have spent way too many evenings grunting at Sam with a mouthful of toothpaste or boxing him out so I can hog the sink.
Another thing I love is our kitchen. For me and Sam the kitchen is the most important room in the house. We’ve got the big island for prep, the gas range stove (thank God no more electric), and a window over the sink. I’m a sucker for natural light.
And surprisingly, my most favorite thing is our screened-in back porch. I love sitting outside in the morning with my coffee. I love sitting outside at night for the sunset. I love popping outside for some fresh air when it gets too chilly inside. I just love being outside.
In our last place, we had a back deck but it was so BUGGY no matter what time of day so we never sat outside. Being outside, I realize, is great for my mental health. It’s calming and relaxing and it’s been missing from my life for a long time.
If you were moving tomorrow, what are the things you would prioritize for your new home?
Blog of the Week
Last week I found out the baby was breech (head-up) and was told if he didn’t turn head-down I’d have to schedule a C-section. I wrote an essay about my emotional rollercoaster of a week.
Spoiler alert: this one has a happy ending! [Read the post here.]
Product Rec
Sam and I need so many things for this new house. With countless options for EVERY ITEM IN THE WORLD it’s impossible not to compare and read reviews until you’re cross-eyed staring at your screen and realize you can’t possibly make a rational decision in this state of mind.
So let me save you some trouble if you’re in the market for a new toothbrush holder.
There are two things I want out of a toothbrush holder:
A sleek look
Easy to clean
Most toothbrush holders that look nice are impossible to clean. When’s the last time you cleaned your toothbrush holder? And how did you get in there? Don’t lie.
And the ones that are easy to clean are ugly.
If you have your own sink, this is the PERFECT individual toothbrush holder.
Okay so I just clicked the Amazon link and it’s currently unavailable. Probably because it’s so amazing. I’m sure they will get them back in stock eventually.
Please let me know if you have a different toothbrush holder you love. Or if you think I’m bonkers for spending an obscene amount of time reading reviews of toothbrush holders. :)

Until next week,
Charlie
