This piece was awesome Charlie - brightened my day!
I especially loved: "For the past five years I’ve lived in isolation and convinced myself I had support from an online community. Capital Camp showed me the inspiring effects of in-person contact."
I'm in the midst the struggle of balancing connection with others and my love for nature/being remote, and this resonated. The necessity of in-person community.
Thank you so much, Tommy, and I'm with you! I love being alone. I crave it. I get energy from it. But wow, real-life community... nothing can replace it. I need to make room for both.
Someday we will meet in person, and we'll get energized in each other's presence, and then we will part ways, close the doors, and recharge alone. :)
So so good to see you here, Charlie! Finding you in the crowd was my favorite past time of CC 2024. loved this piece and so glad you enjoyed the event. 💖
Thank you, Emma! The other day I was staring wistfully into space when we were out with our kids and Sam asked me if I missed Capital Camp. "Yes," I said. "Yes I do."
Oh my gosh, Elizabeth, where to begin!! The staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. And they were everywhere, all the time, asking if you needed anything at all. At one event, there was some crazy lightning and thunder and a van pulled up, full of umbrellas, just in case.
The people in attendance were all curious, interesting, ambitious. I've just never been a space with so many people like that at once.
There was so much planned, so many different events you could attend, kind of a choose your own adventure, which meant there were smaller groups for some things, and larger groups for others. You were constantly moving, walking from one event to another, that there were hundreds of opportunities to meet someone new, have another deep conversation.
And oh, the food! And the coffee! And the snacks! The best I've had.
I joked that my husband took me to Capital Camp for our anniversary, but truly, it was the best trip we've ever taken together as a couple.
New conference added to my list now!
Seriously, you have to.
You're the best, Charlie.
Dude, YOU are the best. Thanks for hosting the greatest event of all time.

I have no doubt you'll wow a room full of people one day Charlie. Probably soon.
Ahhh Rick! Thank you for the vote of confidence. I would love to see you in action on stage (and in character) ;)
I'll let you know the next time I'm going to be live in your next of the woods.
So indeed interesting! You’re coming out gradually.😊
Lol yes! Easing my way into it.

First of all, what is Capital Camp? Sounds very finance-y. Also, I love this: "You never know when you’re going to meet Mr. or Mrs. Luck.”
Haha it IS very finance-y. It's an investing conference.
This made me smile for many reasons
Oh, I'm so jaded by these types of events. What made it special?
