You guys,
Nearly every Monday night I watch The Bachelor with my husband.
It’s a guilty pleasure.
But guilty pleasures are worth exploring.
On the surface it might feel like a waste of time to watch two hours of reality television each week. But it’s two hours each week that Sam and I spend together. Away from the baby, away from our computers and phones, away from our responsibilities. Those two hours are sacred.
Sam lays on the couch and I massage his feet. We sip wine and gasp at the drama of the show. During commercial fast-forwards we periodically say some form of, “I’m so glad I have you.” Because The Bachelor reminds us how grateful we are that we’re not single and that we found each other.
In case you were wondering, *spoiler alert!*... last night was the season finale and Matt James didn’t end up with anyone. And Michelle and Katie are BOTH the new bachelorettes. And I didn't write my newsletter introduction until this morning. And it was totally worth it!
So embrace your guilty pleasures and uncover their importance. Maybe they aren’t guilty pleasures after all.
Essay of the Week
Assignment #3 for Write of Passage was to curate a person.
I used the assignment to dig deeper into one of my internet role models: Ana Lorena Fabrega.
I met Ana in Write of Passage Cohort 4. She was my mentor. At the time, I was pregnant and considering homeschooling options for my son. Ana’s approach and content became my greatest resource.
I thought I’d write about all her tips and advice around fostering a love of learning in kids. I thought I’d tie in elements of what my husband and I want for George.
But I quickly realized I was more excited about Ana’s journey in the past year. She has laid the groundwork for creatives everywhere to leverage the internet to create a serendipity vehicle for themselves. I’m pumped to share her strategy with you.
Aw, shucks!
I was interviewed by Rashi Kakkar for her newsletter Decks and Diapers, which aims to break stereotypes around working parents and amplify the voices of working moms.
Hell yea, Rashi!
If you’d like to get to know me a little more, you can read the interview here.

Until next week,
