Anaphora, Epistrophe, Diacope, Parataxis, and Pleonasm! I didn't realize that cherished writing conventions so closely resembled both diseases and Greek gods by name. Any of those could be all 3 at first glance. Now I'm headed for your podcast to learn the difference.
Caroline Knapp's book goes back quite a while, as I recall that she died about twenty years ago. I found her writing to be brave and beautiful. She wrote a wonderful book about her relationship with her dog and rowing figured prominently in her writing. What a terrible loss at an early age of a great talent.
Brave and beautiful indeed, Drake! I’m reading the one about dogs, Pack Of Two, right now and it’s wonderful. So sad that she died, and at such a young age.
Always learning from you, Charlie and your attention to craft.
Thank you so much, Karena!
I agree! Sometimes hear your voice when I write. It’s a gift. Even though you’re typically yelling at me when I think about it 😂
I only really yell at the people I love. :)
“… it was not the story as much as it was the way in which the story was written”
So good Charlie. And awesome to see you’re on an upward trajectory with the podcast (:
Thank you, Tommy!
