Great post Charlie. Whatever time estimate Substack gave this I’m sure I read it in half that time. Very well written.
Also, shout out on your note to Mark. That was really well done. Explained why and threaded the needle on polite, thoughtful without being deferential. That was class. Well deserved happy ending to that one.
The next book is about writing your book? : ) My favorite from this is the line that could have just said, I was nervous while I waited, but instead, you say, "I tried to busy myself with other things, like eating a chicken salad sandwich. It tasted dry and was difficult to swallow." So good.
I am happy for you that you got a positive reaction. I think most of us can relate to sending off a text and then waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a response. I look forward to your book. 😀
Damn, wow. This made me feel something, and it's funny because I can't quite name that feeling, but I'm sure it's the feeling you wanted your readers to feel, if that makes any sense.
Excited for your memoir Charlie. (I might just be in the US when it comes out!)
Curious if you're doing an audiobook version of it...
Ahh Ishan! So great to hear from you. I love when the writing makes you feel anything. :)
Are you moving to the U.S. or just visiting?
I would love to do an audio version! I recorded one chapter, just for fun, to send to my friend, and had to re-record it like eight times lol. Reading out loud is hard.

Thank you so much, Matt! Took me a bit to craft that text, with some help.

You know, I would like to eventually write a book about writing... maybe that's it: The process of writing and publishing my first book!
You always notice the little things, Rick. I WAS nervous, and my armpits were sweating, but I couldn't write that. ;)
Holy Geez- this one had me the whole time. Thirty- two minutes, I was so uncomfortable.
Great writing here, Charlie- and of course cannot WAIT to get my hands on that book!
I was so uncomfortable! You should have seen me. Pacing, sweating, folding laundry and checking my phone after each shirt. Lol.
Thanks, Emma!

Yes, Dakota! Definitely. Waiting and waiting for a response lol. Everyone has been there.
Thank you!

Haha nice. I do think you'd be able to make a good audiobook (after how many ever takes :D)
Well the plan is to pursue my Masters in the US, so...working on my applications now:)
