Your children's relationship sounds like what my niece and nephew had when they were young. My niece is the oldest by 4 years. When they rode in the car, he would ALWAYS fall asleep, no matter the length of the ride. And she would always hold his hand. One time, I asked her why she did that and she said it was so he would be able to find his way out of his dreams <cue the "I'M not crying, YOU'RE crying" scenario>. Out of the mouths of babes, right? But now, at 34 and 30, they still surprise me with the stuff they say. And sometimes, it's still the "I'M not crying, YOU'RE crying" scenario.

The excerpt on your letter to George is so precious. What would I give to recall my childhood memories like that, so vividly and beautifully and so full of love. Happiest birthdays to George, hope you all have a great time celebrating his big 3!

Aw thank you, Becky. 3 has been the best yet. He speaks full sentences and has ideas and he's FUNNY. It's crazy.

Love that you and Sam write letters to your kids on their birthdays! I've always preferred cards over gifts for the sole reason you can capture and convey more with words than items.

P.S. Have you heard of Paper Time Capsules? They're essentially these adorable letter-sized books where you have prompts to handwrite letters about your favourite memory with your kid that year, your favourite thing about them, best adventure, top advice, etc.

They're called "Letters to my son/daughter/baby." (link: https://www.thegiftedtype.com/products/time-capsule-letters-to-my-son?pr_prod_strat=use_description&pr_rec_id=c204204f7&pr_rec_pid=651142299692&pr_ref_pid=651141611564&pr_seq=uniform)

I actually gifted one to my sis and bro in law for my niece's 3rd birthday this past weekend. :)

I am TOTALLY ordering one of these for my niece, who is now a mom. I think she would love something like this. Her little one is almost two, so she'll have plenty of time to write letters.

Those are so cute, Alexandra! Every time I write one of these, I think about how I would have felt if I turned 18 years old and my mom gave me a stack of letters from her over the years. It would have been so cool to know her more, during each year of my life.
