I share the feeling towards neighbors, except that in my case I expand the radius a little and include everyone else (excluding my WOP friends, of course 😊)
I live in the country in the mountains and fantasize about moving into town, with neighbors and flat land. My husband and I also have gone down the oyster farming rabbit hole, which is our escape plan. Love this. Love your writing!
Good realization. One thing I have learned through the years is that every place is going to have some flaws, just like a person. There is no perfect place to live. It's about finding the good that is there and making it fit the way you want it.
Is that because everyone minds their own business? Sam and I lived in a huge apartment building in Charlotte and I definitely felt that way there. So much privacy, little chit chat with neighbors.
I have similar mixed feelings of moving to a rural place. When I was younger I couldn’t even sleep when we went to our summer home which was just the suburbs with extra breathing room and enough trees to block the neighbors house.
But we’d love to be surrounded by nature and the quietness someday, if I can get over that little vulnerability hump 😬
I so get what you’re saying. I’ve actually lived both lives - but without the farm animals because we realized how much that would hinder our ability to travel. There’s always something to love in a new area and something that you will miss from the old. You’ll know when the time to move is. Kind of like anything - when the pain outweighs the pleasure, it may be time to move on. Good luck!
Dakota I didn't even think about the farm animals hindering travel. Great point! And I think you're right about knowing when the time to move is. And for us, that time is not now.
Obvious vote here for life in the woods. Nikki and I could be your wilderness consultants. Ensuring you love your best Bleecker life in the forest. 🙂
I might have to take you up on that Steven! I was thinking of you when I wrote this lol.
Plus one on this. I'm currently on our farm right now. So many birds, squirrels, deer and leeches.
There will be a lot of bugs, but you'll grow to love them. You'll grow to love the predators as well!

LOL Danny. Same same same.

Haha sounds like "the grass is always greener on the other side."
Thank you, Lindsey!

Absolutely, Pennie! Great point. There is no perfect place to live, but you can always make the most of it.
Yep, exactly.
Somehow after growing up in the suburbs, I someone feel a safer sense of privacy living in a 4 story apartment building.

Why couldn't you sleep?? Because it was quiet? Or the sounds of nature? Were you scared?
It was tooooo quiet and I was soooooo scared someone would come find me and take me into the woods and I'd disappear forever haha 😬

this is why I have always said 'the only way to stay sane is to live in houses of strangers who are on vacation until they come back'
it works
Is this one of those "do as i say not as i do" pieces of advice?
Living in the woods? That’s another life entirely.I think 🤔 those who already live there can say it all!😊
Yes! Listen to Sam haha
