"I played up my Jersey attitude and sarcasm—because that was the only way I knew how to flirt—and he laughed at everything I said."

This immediately threw me into rom com mode for the rest of the post. Better than half the shit on Netflix anyways.

Punchy stories as always. You have a knack for sharing the perfect dialogue!

Haha thank you, Camilo, a sad rom com... kind of reminds me of Happy Christmas starring Anna Kendrick.

Ooh, random question: If there was a movie made about your life, who would you like to play you?

Love this.

Ten years ago I would have said me lol. Now I’d say Anna Kendrick, Mae Whitman, or Natalie Portman.

How about you??

All great choices (though I feel like Mae Whitman would nail your character best, though Natalie Portman is a close second).

Someone once told me that I looked like Albert Molina, and that kinda peeved me but has stuck with me ever since. So probably him.

Oh, and Pedro Pascal. That would be my number 1 choice actually.

OMG I was OBSESSED with Pedro Pascal in Game of Thrones. His death still haunts me.

Both very good choices! I could see both! Albert Molina is an amazing actor.

As for my choices, my mom saw Happy Christmas and called me after and said, "Anna Kendrick is you," so maybe it was just that movie.

Your writing is always a breath of fresh air above all the bullshit. Thanks Charlie (:

One of the things I love about you Charlie, and your writing is that you give it to us straight from the gut. Some people write like they post on Facebook, with all the lovely moments and retouched pictures. That’s not life. Life is more like crapbook a lot of the time. And to write about it is to share your reality and experience, all of it unvarnished, which makes you and your writing even more appealing.

I’m not saying your life is crap BTW. Just that your life is your life without a label on it, and that you write about it, is refreshing.

Haha crapbook! Yes indeed, James. Thank you so much for this. There's something to what you're commenting on here, which, I think, is that it's MORE relatable to share the crap and the ugly and the embarrassing, than it is to present yourself in a put together way.

I don’t recall how we met each other via your Transparent Tuesday’s columns, but, it must have been something related to your great writing. ?? With that, after reading this one, I would suggest finding new friends. Anyone who would recommend a one night stand to “get over someone” is a pathetic, self centered, disgusting, prideful, egotistical jerk. Oh yeah, this was a guy’s suggestion!!! I guess sex is just sex for you. No relationship. An act. Something to do when you are vulnerable, sad, depressed, angry, etc. Everyone goes away “happy”…or do they? If it works for you so be it…..you need people in your life who are good role models….you’re caught up in the wickedness and evil of worldly ways…instant self gratification, something for nothing, no commitments, self centeredness….

Looking forward to your next post!
