So good Charlie! Have you read The Sense of an Ending? Lovely book, similar theme. An old guy was a douche to his friends and tries to figure out where things went wrong. Our memories are really not that solid.
Memories remind us of when we were incompetent and immature enough. They make us laugh/cry at times and help us to see, learn and understand how much we’ve developed thereafter.Your storyline makes me laugh 😂 remembering mine too, indeed memories aren’t truth. You’re wonderful!👍👏
This is getting me seriously tempted to go back into the AIM archives. I think I remember having something called "Dark AIM" which logged your conversations before AIM had that as an official feature, meaning I have some stuff going back to 5th-8th grade, wHeN eVeRyOnE tAlKeD liKe ThIs.
Dude, you said it. Time changes how you look at your past. Whenever someone asks you to recount an experience, you must say that "terms and conditions apply", with one of those terms being - "memories are subject to change (and in some cases, total alteration) with time" XD
As usual, I love reading your newsletter. The Affair is such an interesting show on truth, I always reference it to people going through break up and looking for "the truth". Loved the way you explained it, I may forward this email instead of trying to explain it myself from now on!
“Baconbits13: listen jake whether you meant to or not.....you hurt me” is my new favorite line in any essay, ever. Awesome piece Charlie, thanks for sharing 🤍
Baconbits13. Lol. My favorite detail from this great story.
The backstory is so dumb.

Never heard of it, John, but that sounds awesome. Just added it to my book list!

Thank you, Orianne. I love the idea of pointing people to The Affair after a breakup!
Expectations are a hell of a drug.
Well done on this piece Charlie!
Thanks, Steven!
